Biography

Jan Schnupp graduated from University College London with a Bachelor in Genetics in 1990 and obtained a doctorate in Neurophysiology from the University of Oxford in 1996 and a bachelor in mathematical sciences from the Open University in 2006. He was a junior research fellow at Christ Church, Oxford and a visiting research fellow at the University of Wisconsin at Madison before joining the faculty of the University of Oxford in 2002, where he was promoted to Professor in 2010. In 2016, Jan joined the faculty of City University of Hong Kong, and in 2024 he joined the GCNI at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In his long career he co-authored over 100 peer reviewed publications as well as a leading textbook in auditory neuroscience.

  • Binaural Hearing in Animal Models for Cochlear Implantation
  • Neural mechanisms of auditory perception and predictive coding
  • Sensory plasticity and adaptation to the auditory environment
