GCNI Symposium - Windows into the Brain: Insights from Modern Neuroimaging Technologies

The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI) recently organized a two-and-a-half-day symposium from 4-6 November 2024 with the theme "Windows into the Brain: Insights from Modern Neuroimaging Technologies" at Yasumoto International Academic Park of the CUHK campus, featuring a diverse lineup of speakers who shared cutting-edge research and developments in the field of neuroscience.

 

The symposium invited 15 distinguished speakers from overseas, Mainland China, and local universities in Hong Kong. This inaugural symposium aimed to cultivate and strengthen the neuroscience community in Hong Kong. The speakers presented their groundbreaking research findings to push the boundaries of current neuroscience research, covering a wide range of topics including human studies on emotion, motivation, pain, fear, and language development, as well as animal studies on neural circuits related to auditory perception, spatial learning, memory, behavior, and brain disorders. Topics also included the pivotal role of microglia in brain function and the development of innovative tools such as neuromodulators and indicators to further explore neural activity.

 

Attendees were treated to a wealth of knowledge and innovative ideas, making for a truly engaging and enlightening experience. The symposium was well-received by participants, and feedback indicated that it was a valuable and enriching event for all involved. The success of this symposium highlights the Institute's commitment to advancing knowledge in the field of neuroscience and fostering collaboration among experts in the field.
