Symposium at Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT)

Organized by Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) and co-organized by the Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI), a symposium “The Role of Microglia in Health and Disease” was held during 30 March to 1 April 2023 in Shenzhen, China. This three-day event gathered microglial scientists from worldwide and promoted neuroscience research collaborations in the Greater Bay Area.

Prof. Brian MACVICAR from Vancouver, Canada, and Florent GINHOUX from Singapore provided keynote lectures on the topic of “Microglia and oxidative stress in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration”. Dr. Mami NODA from Japan and 11 neuroscientists were also invited to provide speeches on their research.

With the support from the Chinese government on GBA’s promising scientific development, closer connections for research collaborations are anticipated.
