Wenzhou Delegation Visits CUHK to Explore Collaboration in Neuroscience and Biomedical Innovation

A delegation from the Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, led by Mayor Zhang Wenjie, and Academic Vice President of Wenzhou Medical University, Professor Song Weihong, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 26 May 2026 to exchange views and explore collaboration opportunities in biomedical sciences and neuroscience. The visit brought together representatives from government, academia and industry to strengthen ties in research, innovation and knowledge transfer.

During the visit, the delegation was received by CUHK representatives, including the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Sham Mai-har, Assistant Dean of Engineering (Mainland Affairs), Professor Yu Bei, and Director of the Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI), Professor Ko Ho. The meeting featured welcome remarks, presentations, and in-depth discussions on potential areas of collaboration. Participants engaged in a formal roundtable exchange, followed by a commemorative group photo marking the successful engagement.

GCNI presented its latest developments, highlighting major research achievements, the establishment of core facilities, postgraduate training initiatives, and expanding international partnerships. Particular attention was given to ongoing collaborations with mainland and global partners, including the Oujiang Laboratory located in Wenzhou.

The delegation also toured the CUHK campus, gaining further insights into its academic environment and research infrastructure. The visit concluded on a positive note, laying a strong foundation for future collaboration in neuroscience and related fields.
