CUHK GCNI and NTU LKCMedicine Forge Strategic Neuroscience Partnership at Singapore Symposium
The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, formalised a major new partnership in neuroscience research with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing took place at LKCMedicine on 26 February 2026, as part of the LKCMedicine Neuroscience Partners Symposium.
The MOU was signed by Professor Joseph Sung, Dean of LKCMedicine; and Professor Ho Ko, representative from CUHK and Director of GCNI. Under the agreement, the two institutions will pursue joint research programmes in priority areas such as vascular dysfunction, dementia, microglial metabolism, and neuroimmune mechanisms; expand researcher mobility schemes; and co‑develop online educational activities featuring young scientists from both sides.
The signing ceremony was a highlight of the two‑day Neuroscience Partners Symposium (25–26 February), chaired by Professor Kah Leong Lim, Associate Vice President of LKCMedicine. The event brought together international experts and showcased multidisciplinary research spanning neurodegeneration, cognitive neuroscience, neurovascular science, gut‑brain biology and emerging AI‑driven analytics.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening scientific collaboration between the two institutions. By bringing together the expertise of GCNI and LKCMedicine in neurovascular and degenerative research with translational neuroscience, the collaboration is set to accelerate innovation and foster new opportunities for regional and global impact.
